About Katsu Dojo

Katsu Dojo instructors have been teaching in Gainesville, Florida since 1985.  Katsu Dojo was officially named in the Fall of 1998.  Since then it has expanded rapidly and has become the highest quality martial arts program in Gainesville.  Katsu Dojo has also received national recognition on the USA National Karate-Do Federation state and national tournament circuit.

Katsu Dojo instructors teach a traditional style of karate called Shito-ryu.  In addition to our regular karate classes, Katsu Dojo also offers Okinawan Kobudo (weapons), Tournament Classes, and Pre-Karate for toddlers. Class schedules are available in the locations section.

Our curriculum seeks to instill five virtues:

Katsu Dojo is an official member of the USA National Karate-Do Federation and Katsu Dojo athletes compete on their tournament circuit.  The USANKF is the only governing body for karate that is recognized by the US Olympic Committee.  Katsu Dojo's competition team members have won 104 National Championship gold medals since 1999.

Katsu Dojo instructors have been in training for many years and are dedicated to creating one of the greatest martial arts programs in the country.

New Students

Katsu Dojo offers traditional karate classes at four different facilities in Alachua County and one in Jacksonville.  Our YMCA location includes classes for ages 6 and above with separate adult classes.  Our O2b Kids locations offer karate classes for ages 4 - 13 with separate Pre-Karate classes for 4 & 5 year olds.

Both facilities offer free trial classes for students and parents to evaluate the program with no obligations.  Also, there is never any contract to sign.  We believe it is our responsibility to provide a high quality program which both mentally and physically stimulates each student.  We want our students to come to class because they truly enjoy the program, not because they are obligated by a contract.  You can go to our locations section to get information on each individual school including how you can get started today!
