The
mission of the WKF is to train athletes and develop their mental and
physical health throughout the world by securing their participation
in international karate activities. The WKF hosts the World Karate
Championships which is held every two years and is attended by
athletes representing over 100 countries throughout the world.
The WKF is also working with the International Olympic Committee to
make the sport of karate an official Olympic event. Please click

The PKF is
recognized by the World Karate Federation as the governing body for sport karate
for
the Western Hemisphere. The PKF has 37 member countries in the
Western Hemisphere. The PKF hosts the Pan American and Junior
Pan American Championships each year. Each member country brings

The USANKF is
recognized by the US Olympic as the governing body for sport karate in
the United States. The USANKF hosts traditional karate
tournaments throughout the country including the USANKF Junior
Olympics and the USANKF National Championships & US Team Trials.
These trials determine which karate athletes are selected to represent the
United States at the Pan American & World Championships. USANKF
tournaments are run with the new WKF sanbon, nihon, and ippon sparring

The purpose
of the Florida Sport Karate League is to provide quality traditional
karate events which serve to enhance American Karate while providing
economic support for instructors and promoters to bring Florida Karate
athletes up to Olympic standards. The FSKL sponsors a tournament
circuit with several traditional tournaments throughout the state of
Florida each year. Each FSKL tournament uses the exact same
rules which will prepare athletes to compete in the USANKF National
Championships and will also prepare athletes to compete on a WKF

The Florida Sports
Foundation, Inc. is the official sports promotion and development
organization for the State of Florida. The Foundation is a private,
not-for-profit corporation operating under contract with the Office of
Tourism, Trade and Economic Development under the Executive Office of
the Governor. This Foundation hosts The Sunshine State
Games which is Florida's own
Olympic-style sports festival created for amateur athletes of all ages
and skill levels. Each year these games include approximately
10,000 athletes competing in over 25 events, including karate.

Sensei Nick De Paolo is an associate of Katsu Dojo and
has begun a traditional Shito-Ryu karate school in Cape Coral, FL.
His school name is Shu Ha Ri Dojo and it is a sister school to Katsu
Dojo. Sensei Nick is a third degree black belt in Shito-Ryu and
a member of Japan Karate-Do's Board of Black Belts. You

is run by Sensei Jimmy Bowden in Perry, Florida. Sensei Bowden
trains under Sensei Sugimoto and was promoted to Sandan, 3rd degree
Black Belt, in December 1996. Sensei Bowden's program is a member of
the JKF Kenkojuku Association of Miami, Florida and Tokyo, Japan.
Sensei Bowden and his students have been great friends and supporters
